1.6 million Mercedes-Benz counterfeit parts seized last year, raids up 20%

Mercedes-Benz has reported a significant increase in counterfeit parts seizures in 2023. Over 1.6 million counterfeit parts were seized and 142,000 online offers were removed. The company conducted over 740 raids worldwide to combat this issue. Counterfeit parts pose a serious safety hazard to road users, as demonstrated by recent incidents involving faulty airbag inflators.

Mercedes-Benz is actively working to protect its brand and combat the counterfeiting industry. They are utilizing their Intellectual Property Enforcement Team to investigate and track down counterfeiters. The company’s brand protection strategy focuses on tracking down counterfeiters, attacking their operations, and preventing the spread of counterfeit products.

The counterfeiting industry increasingly uses online platforms and social media to distribute products. This allows counterfeiters to operate anonymously and reach a wider audience. Mercedes-Benz is working closely with authorities to address this challenge and protect its brand and customers.
