A recent AAA survey suggests a decline in American consumer interest in electric vehicles (EVs). This year, only 18% of US adults said they were likely to buy an EV, down from 23% last year. The main reasons for the hesitation are cost, lack of charging stations, and range anxiety. AAA believes these factors may limit widespread EV adoption shortly.
However, the survey also indicates a growing interest in hybrid vehicles. Hybrids seem more practical for many consumers than EVs since they can switch between electric and gas power, reducing range anxiety and fueling concerns. With 31% of US adults interested in hybrids, AAA suggests they may serve as a stepping stone towards wider EV adoption.
