Market Penetration of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems Continues to Grow

The market penetration of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) in passenger vehicles has grown significantly in recent years. A new report by the Partnership for Analytics Research in Traffic Safety (PARTS) reveals that 10 out of 14 ADAS features surpassed 50% market penetration in the 2023 model year, with five features exceeding 90%. This represents a substantial increase from the previous report in 2021, which showed that none of the ADAS features had exceeded 75% penetration.

Key findings from the report include the high market penetration of forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection warning, pedestrian AEB, and lane departure warning, all ranging from 91% to 94%. The report is based on data from approximately 98 million passenger vehicles sold in the United States, covering 168 different models from model years 2015–2023. This data set represents more than double the number of passenger vehicles sold and an increase of 75 models compared to the previous report.
